The Paris / Île-de-France corridor

Moving to Paris / Île-de-France
— what we know about it

Paris is our shortest French corridor from the UK and the destination where access logistics matter most. The twenty arrondissements span everything from listed Haussmannian apartments in the 6th and 7th to converted industrial loft conversions in the 11th and 12th, modernist towers in the 15th, and gentrified working-class quarters in the 18th, 19th, and 20th. Our destination team in Paris knows the access constraints across all of them — which streets in the Marais will not take a 7.5-tonne lorry, which arrondissements require a parking-bay permit booked through the mairie a week ahead, which buildings need the gardien briefed before move day and the syndic's sign-off on lift use.

The Île-de-France région extends well beyond the périphérique — the 75, 78, 91, 92, 93, 94, and 95 départements form the wider Greater Paris catchment. We deliver across all of it. Suburban moves to Versailles (78), Saint-Germain-en-Laye (78), Boulogne-Billancourt (92), Neuilly-sur-Seine (92), Sèvres (92), and the gentrifying inner-ring towns of Vincennes, Montreuil, and Saint-Mandé (94) form a substantial part of our Paris workload. These suburban destinations often have easier access for the lorry than the central arrondissements, but trade that for longer journey times across the Île-de-France network on move day.

Paperwork specific to a Paris-area move includes the carte de séjour (residency permit, applied for at the prefecture for your destination département — different prefecture for each), the avis d'imposition or alternative documentation that long-let landlords ask for, and for households arriving on Article 50-era residency rights or post-Brexit work permits, the validation of those rights through the prefecture's service des étrangers. We do not file the carte de séjour for you — that is yours to manage with the prefecture — but we time the move so your goods arrive after your appointment is confirmed and your address is recognised.

Move-day logistics in Paris are an art. Permit-controlled zones in the 1st (around the Louvre and the Tuileries), the 4th (the Marais), the Quais, parts of the 5th and 6th around the Sorbonne and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and increasingly the gentrified 11th around République, all require advance permit booking through the relevant mairie. Pedestrian-only streets in the historic centre often need shuttle-loading from a small van that meets the main lorry several hundred metres away. We book all this in advance and the destination coordinator manages the day-of access. Concierge clearance for buildings with a gardien is standard practice — we brief the gardien the day before and confirm lift use protocols.

Carte de séjour Residency permit

Required for stays over 90 days in any 180. Apply at the préfecture for your destination département. We time the move so your goods arrive after your appointment is confirmed.

Justificatif de domicile Proof of address document

Required for opening utilities, banking, the carte de séjour application itself. Often the rental contract initially, then a utility bill once the property is occupied.
